Asylum Seekers Crisis in Europe 2015: Debating Spaces of Fear and Security in Latvia
2015
Abstract In this paper we analyse emerging discourses of fear on the one hand and safety and security on the other. In the context of rupture - sudden, unprecedented asylum flows as well as the historical context of the fear and experience of losing the state’s freedom, we pose the following research question: Where do insecurities and fear come from and how are spaces of security and safety carved out through public discourses? We argue that, instead of singling out political discourses in Eastern European as filled with hatred towards other ethnicities and races or an inability to show solidarity with human suffering, we have to open up a far more deep reaching debate on the interplay of …

Adaptivity in E-Learning Systems
2018
Abstract The differentiated designing of lessons from the virtual environment can have beneficial effects on the student. In order to achieve the objectives proposed in the course, the content should not only meet the student’s expectations but must be designed adaptively according to the defining elements of each learner. Adaptability in content is an essential factor in maintaining motivation, involving the student, and engaging him/her in the study. The paper analyses approaches for the adaptive building of content by identifying the elements that can influence the achievement of the objectives - motivation, expectation, learner’s style, a priori knowledge

Legal Liability Regarding The Regime of Organization, Systematization and Signalization of Roads in Romania

Abstract People and society`s life can not be understood out of conduct rules that must be respected by everybody. Legal liability represents both a fundamental form of law and a basic component of the whole legal system. One of the fundamental principles of law is liability. Perspective Correction For Image Processing
2015
Abstract The paper proposes an algorithm for applying the perspective correction of images containing human faces. Based on the coordinates of the two eyes, of the center of the mouth and of a point on the line of the mouth, one can estimate the angle of inclination of the face. After applying the perspective correction, the area corresponding to the face can be used by a face recognition algorithm based on aspect in order to improve the good recognition rate.
